Thanks Colorado! and Best Grand Canyon Book?

Just spent the last month in Colorado running rivers/camping. Just want to say thanks to all those I paddled with. Always easy to find paddle buds. I am Mike from Mass with the light blue creeker and the grey xterra. I dont think anything compares to CO in late May/early June. I had a fucking blast!

Thanks again.

What is the best guide book for the Grand Caynon, considering outfitting, supplies, geology (poss sep. book)?

Appreciate the help.

I think the best overall guide for Grand Canyon river running is the Martin & Whitis guide put out by Rivermaps. It has lots of topo maps, and good information on camps, side hikes, points of interest, rapids etc. However, for geology, the Belknap Guide is a little better, with some more detailed observations.

Theres always these two competing philosophies about river maps as well, where some prefer not to know where the camps are and just want to discover things as they go, and others like to know where all of the camps are. If you're in the former catagory, then get Belknap guide, because its the only one that doesn't show camps, otherwise Martin & Whitis is the way to go.

The Martin/Whitis guide is excellent, with good info on camps, history, attractions, and rapids. And to augment the information there, Tom also has written a fine guide to Canyon hikes as well.

If you can locate a Stevens guide (out of print and awaiting a new edition, I am told) that is a good one as well, but with a different angle on the information it presents.
