Talluagh Gorge Release, and South East boating in April

Does anyone on here know if Talluagh Gorge is release in April this year, or if that would be a good time to go to Georgia, North, and South Carolina?

tallulah is scheduled to release the first two weekends in april, so 2-3, 9-10. Usually the sunday release is the larger of the two, but both are fun. April is spring time in the southeast and as they say april showers bring may flowers, so if its raining then there should be some good boating to be had. Dont forget about northeast alabama, some excellent boating to be had in that area. Chattanooga Tn. as well. The entire NE alabama/NW Georgia/ chattanooga area is full of great creeks/rivers all close together. Western NC is great as well, lots of classics to in that area.

Tallulah should run this spring (as stated above, first two weekends of April). It was shut down in the fall due to a dam gate that was damaged in a high water event in August, but they were supposed to have had that fixed by now.

The Green should be running those first two weeks of April, and the Cheoah also runs on those weekends.

The Ocoee flume is broken, so it could also be running a good bit then.

We've been getting a lot of snow so far this winter, so as long as it stays reasonably wet, we should have a strong enough water table that it won't take too much rain to get other things going while you're here.

As we say in the intro to the Southeast chapter in our new River Gypsies' Guide to North America, the first two weeks of April are probably the best time to travel to the Southeast.

If anyone is interested in volunteering for one of the days (or more), volunteers are always needed! The deal with the Forest Service is that every release will be manned by volunteers. In the past Bob Focht has been the volunteer coordinator (bobfocht at yahoo dot com). This is a great opportunity to give back - run one, volunteer one!
