Doubt it. It had been loading fine before. There's not really any new "junk" that's on here now. It's probably a server problem, especially if it keeps speeding up after Andy R keeps restarting services.

ridiculous. doesn't matter if it's on the laptop at home or pc at work, it's agonizingly slow. flows and swap pages seem to load reasonably faster, but the forums take forever. think i'm done with it for a while.

Alright, it's even slowing down for me now, too. Dave, both of your posts on the other thread eventually made it through so I went in and deleted the second one. It definitely relates to the traffic on the site (right now we're in in the top 3 for record number of people viewing the Buzz, probably because of the rain and flows popping up). We'll see if we can get this thing to speed up a little but unfortunately, Andy and Ben are really the only ones with the power and knowledge to grease the gears on this one.

Buzz Kill

More beta....17 sec to load top frame, 42 sec to load forum, three sample avg. The other pages are loading slowly, too. I've noticed it at work (usually 5 to 6 mbps download over T2 or higher) and at home (usually 3 mbps download over cable broadband) so it is not the connection speed in my case. Takes me back to the days of surfing over dial-up, very nostalgic experience.

Is it possible the MySQL database needs to be tuned? I know the DB I work with will grind to a crawl if it does not have enough memory allocated to handle all the activity. Other configuration parameters with the db may need to be increased to handle the additional load.

Yeah its painfully slow, that combined with all the other changes that have been made since last year have made it difficult at best to get information off this site, for that reason I dont come here nearly as much as I used to:

-its slow
-you have to do the stupid image verification thing just to search the forums!
-its cluttered and hard to find what you're looking for
-there are way too many forums, makes it really hard to browse around
-there are all these stupid features and tools all over the place that make it confusing and hard to navigate.

Sorry for the slow down, traffic has pixked up way more then we thought. We just got a couple more Gigs of RAM which should help out considerably. It should be installed by the end of the weekend (I'll post more details as they are available).
