Summit Camping?

Is there any decent Summit County camping left? I'm planning to head that way this weekend and would like to camp somewhere close to Frisco, but I'm not sure if the beatles have wiped out all the camping in the area. I don't need a campground really, just BLM or Forest service land is fine with me. Anyone have any suggestions?

Check out Columbine Landing. Its the take-out for the Upper Blue section, so its riverside, free, and has pit toilets. Its about 10mins from Silverthorne, North on CO-9.

Another option is directly across from the Blue River Campground (which i think is still closed cause of the beetles) near the kayaker put-in for Upper Blue. Driving North from Silverthorne it will be on your left and I think it is CO Rd. 1350 (same turn off for Triple Creek Ranch). Just drive up the road a bit and pick a spot.

Also, if you rive up towards Montezuma (near Keystone) there is some camping on either side of the road. The road runs along the Snake River and is very pretty if you get a spot right next to the creek.

Have fun!

If you are looking to be close to Frisco there are developed spots out on the Frisco Peninsula and if you want something undeveloped if turn right at Peak 1 circle going south towards Breck and turn right on to CO Rd 1000 and another right on to CO Rd 1002. This will take you in BLM land. I know this sound confusing but if you go to Google Earth and look to the south of frisco you will see the roads in question.

Stop by anyone of the outfitters and they will give you all the beta. Wilderness Sports on Frisco main street can help or that little kayak shop down on the end of main Ten Mile Kayak.

No good camping left in Summit, in fact the beatles took the whole county away. You should stay in Aurora for far better camping.

yes, the beetles did a number on us.
however, i second the peninsula for camping. still plenty of shade even though most of the trees are cleared out. awesome views.
you can drink late into the evening at the marina and walk back to camp.
great mtn bike trails are there too.
close to hospital if the beetles attack you in your sleep.
1/2 spots are first come first serve, the rest you can reserve online
