I went down last June and the wetting down the sand trick was priceless. We would wet down the kitchen area to keep down the blowing sand and the heat. Definitely wet down the area under and around your cot. OH Yeah, leave the thermals at home.

We call it the land of fire and ice for a reason. Most of my trips have been in June and July. I have found myself digging out customer spare sleeping bags when I only thought I needed a fleece bag. Marble Canyon can get chilly at night in June and July. The end of June into July and August will bring the thunderstorms and it can get very cool then as well. I am almost always thankful that I have base layers and fleece jacket along. I bring a 40 to 50 degree bag now and a sheet to wet if it's too hot. Also, I always sleep on a boat much cooler and less sand.

Hope this helps......

Don't forget a ground cloth for next to your cot, esp if you wet down the sand. They are good for setting all tour junk and bags and feet on. I just used a small tarp, but others buy those new sand sifting things. Another cheapo option is a piece of astroturf, i use that for a tent entrance and at least sand sifts down. I found doing this really reduced the sand in my stuff. Shake them out carefully as scorpions may crawl underneath. We had a giant hairy scorpion hide under a tarp by a cot.

I am a river, babe - I've got plenty of time, I don't know where I'm going, I'm just following the lines..... - "We are water" by Shaye
