Steamboat Sprgs Boating and Lift Prices

I am coming to steamboat in April for 6 weeks. I will doing my Surgery Rotation, but hopefully I can sneak away for some recreation.

I am interested doing a little boarding. Are there any local deals for lift tickets. I am a student so I have a pretty limited budget. Please reply if you have any leads.

Should I bring the playboat? how good is the play park? I was thinking about just bringing my Outlaw for some river running.

I think steamboat is shutting its lifts down for the season on April 10th so there might not be much boarding to do. You could try backcountry if the snow keeps fallin. Don't know about the play park though im sure someone here does.

The boating should be starting up in mid-April. Cross and Willow should both be good by then. Definitely bring the playboat. There were a couple of paddlers in Charlie's Hole this afternoon although it looked pretty low. Keep an eye on the guage -- when the Yampa through town gets over 600 CFS things start to get fun.

...and if you're jonesing, 300 cfs will get you wet and should be OK in town. Deffinitely watch the Willow and cross gauges...160ish for Willow and I guess you could run Cross form 500ish...your mileage may vary.

I picked up some lift tickets for the Boat on Craig's List for a fair price. www.craigslist.org and choose the Denver market. Search under "For Sale" and "Tickets"
