Steamboat creeks / FOY meeting

Upper Fish is clean. Middle and Lower have some tricky spots still. It could go this weekend.

Willow is full of wood, but no portages at 187. Not sure about 283. The wood will move. Be careful, particularly in the 1/4 mile above Whoopty Ridge; where there is a tree on river-right at about chest level. STAY LEFT!

Slater is blowing up. We'll probably be up there this weekend.

C and D are at optimal levels for all tricks, including the chunder-wheel.

Friends of the Yampa meeting tonight at 6:30 at Smokehouse.

RE: Elk Box-No go until June without a snowmobile.

RE: Fish- 2.3 would be a good minimum (emphasize minimum) to travel up here. I cracked a boat in there last year because it never got above 2.5

RE: Cross - I might try, but I think I'd rather bomb Slater if it's boomin'

The C-Hole is absolutely sick right now and Willow is getting crazy big with dam release and runoff........Going out there today if you're around ........

Lots to do up here even if Fish isn't running........

Gear Swap at Backdoor Sports

Little added bonus if you get up to Steamboat this weekend:

There's a Kayak and River Equipment Swap at Backdoor Sports (on the river
at 9th Street) tomorrow (Sat 5/10) starting at 9am. Bring anything you
would like to sell ($10 per item) and please be sure to let anybody
looking to upgrate their equipment know about the swap.

Cheers,

Peter Van De Carr
President/Head of Fun
Backdoor Sports Ltd

And......Willow is ridiculous. Ridiculously fun. There's a sidecreek coming in below the put-in on 129 that's as big as Willow usually is. Had to be pushing 7-hundo...Bank to bank in the bushes...Non-stop whitewater with minimal eddies. Lots to do up here between Cross, Slater, Willow, town play.......

I am going to be out in the steamboat area on Sunday. Me and a friend are both not familiar with any of the runs out there, but we are looking to do some creeking as well as playboating. We are going to have a shuttle bunny along with us, but we just don't know the runs. If anybody is going to be out there on Sunday and knows the shit, you should get in on our shuttle. Give me a ring,

Clayton.
