I was there in late July in town and I think the local authorities frown on folks running the drops through town. They all looked like they had some good lines through them. I talked to some guys at the local boating store and there are a bunch of runs around there but they were all too low when I was there. If you stop by the store (sorry don't remember the name, (blame CRS)) they have a little guide book for the area.

Yea the falls down town look good as long as ya get out above the dam. But they don't let anyone run em. I've been pontoon'in the river for a few years think I'm gonna get a playboat got some good waves here too. Any ideas on what to get? Thanks

years ago, a buddy and I got the official "kayak sheriff" deployed on us for boating in town below the falls. There is a great wave within sight of the falls. It was kinda cool seeing a sheriff with a creek boat. He gave us a warning, and all was good. Weird, i don't remember the reasoning for closure on the boating, i guess there are signs. Other spots, there was some park and play at dead dog wave under a bridge. 12 miles west of coeurd'Alene exit 299 off I-90. Fun wave/hole! We also checked out Corbin park wave. Wasn't very impressed, perhaps we didn't have the right level. West of coeud'Alene on I-90 10 miles, pleasant view exit #2, railroad ave. for 1 mile to park. Hope this helps. Also there is perhaps a few raft companies that run the spokane. They may have info on a class II/III run of sorts.

Right on! yea really not sure why they don't let us run certain water think they just want to be in control. Found a few waves they are smaller but will be fun to learn on. That corbin wave needs like

Lots of great playboating around Spokane, right on the Spokane River. Dead Dog is awesome when it's up around 15-20k.

There are a couple of shops where you can get good beta on play spots:
Mountain Gear:; Outdoor gear and clothing for climbing, hiking, skiing, camping & backpacking.
Mountain Goat: Acme Climbing - Climbing Accessories, Climbing Equipment, Climbing Gear, Mountain Climbing Gear, Rock Climbing Gear

The Main Salmon around Riggins (3 hours south?) has some of the best playboating I've ever encountered. There are tons of great sandbars to camp on nearby and they're free. There is something to play on year-round, no matter the level. The Lochsa is within 3 hours too and it's great during the runoff.

You'll also want to make the drive to Missoula (3 hours east) for Brennan's Wave, right in town. It can be a really great spot and is playable all year (if you can handle the cold during the winter).

The Playboaters Guide to Idaho is very handy. It may even have beta for the best spots on the Spokane but I don't remember. You can buy it from NRS here...

Have fun!
