South Main Presentation and LVM premiere in Colorado Springs

PPWC Banquet This is open to all members of PPWC or the PPWC Yahoo Group. You can join the Yahoo Group for free. Info at http://www.pikespeakwhitewaterclub.com/gopaddle.html

Thursday, October 13th
Southside Johnny's
528 S. Tejon
Colorado Springs
5:00pm
Food is available for order from the restaurant.

Mark your calendars for the PPWC and PPWC Yahoo group member banquet on October 13. Happy hour starts at 5pm, the program starts at 6pm.

We have a very special program for the banquet this year.

Pro Paddler Katie Selby will be our guest speaker. Katie will talk about the new playpark she and her brother Jed are building in Buena Vista as part of their South Main project. Come hear Katie describe the park and the project and get an update on a world class play opportunity at the longest park in the world coming soon to the Ark valley. The park will combine one existing play feature with 3 new features all set in a 3/4 mile stretch of class 3 water. After her presentation, we will have time for Q&A with Katie.

The banquet will also feature a premiere of the next issue of Lunch Video Magazine. If you are not familiar with LVM, it is a quarterly multi-media kayaking publication that you can have delivered right to your house like a regular magazine. But unlike a regular magazine, LVM combines both a print 'zine AND a 60 minute DVD featuring the best, freshest, and most exciting video footage of the latest tricks, trips, river reports, and expeditions. Our premiere issue will feature, FIBARK coverage from this season, a feature on Colorado playparks, and coverage of the Mosely Creek expedition from this past March that was the cover story in the August edition of Canoe and Kayak magazine. LVM is the standard for kayak entertainment.

The LVM premiere issue arrived yesterday. It is a pre-release version of the next issue to be released and I thought I'd give you some highlights to whet your appetite for tomorrow night.

If you like carnage, and who doesn't, it has some great close up footage of this year's Pine Creek boater X shot right next to the main hole. Trust me there are some spectacular hole rides captured and with close enough views to see the whites of the paddlers bulging eyes. Out of 12 boaters in the hole that day, only Andre Spino-Smith surfed out upright, and even he said he was close to swimming. In addition, it has the entrants to the 2005 IR Big Gun show, and there is some spectacular carnage to be seen in this, not to mention spectacular air.

Extensive coverage of the 2005 FIBARK events including the infamous Hooligan race.

A feature on the Colorado play scene. You'll have to see this one, I don't want to describe it too fully here.

A feature on an expedition to the headwaters of the Kern in California.

Some footage from the 2004 Stikine trip when Nikki Kelly became the first woman to paddle the Stikine.

Sadly the Mosely Creek feature previously announced, is not part of this issue as John Grace will be including the footage in his next feature film.

Between Katie Selby's presentation with Q&A and the LVM premiere, we are going to have a great evening. Katie says she has developed a new presentation for this event and is excited to show it to us.

Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Mike
