south fork boulder MT info.

Anyone willing to share some beta on the upper south fork boulder? I have been scouring the gazetteer and don't see anything labelled south fork boulder. It is a fork of the boulder river out of MacLeod? Any info would be great. Thanks, Doug

Look at Big Timber and follow the boulder south. That is most likely what you are looking for. Going north is the big timber drainage out of the crazy mountains, a sick run off V+.
Mcleod is a small town of about maybe 50 people and the south boulder is just the east of it, but the part you want to paddle is south of there. the tricky part is there is a east and west fork. the west fork is the one going through mecleod but the east is the one most paddle.
It runs big and fast over the next couple of months, weather depending.
call up northern lights trading company in bozeman for more info. i think it is 406-586-2298.

s boulder

The West Boulder is a common run which requires a 5 mile hike in and is quality IV+/V wilderness boating. The main boulder has a couple of good runs as well. Have not heard about the S. Boulder although I know there are some tribs in the wilderness like Falls Creek that people tell tales of seeing good stuff but have not heard of any of those being ran. I hear those stoner kayakers who wrote Montana Surf are making a new edition and it has W. Boulder and other good info in it. Its been sold out for 1.5 yrs though. Maybe they just kayak and smoke weed all day instead of working.

It's the S. Boulder in the Tobacco Roots. Fun but very short stretch.
