el flaco, if that was me that told you the source was clean and you hit a log, i apologize. if i remember correctly, there was a log right at the lip of the first drop but you could still get around it. but this sounds more like something forest or gary would tell you. remember that the source constantly changes and you should not blame other people for your bad lines.

It wasn't you, unless you've got multiple screen names. As for 'bad lines', if you've paddled the Source you know that there's
one line through the Slot....and that would be....through the Slot. Which is where the log was.
The mistake that I made (and the guy that I was paddling with) was listening to someone else's beta. So, my point was, "there's no substitute for using your own set of eyes", not to blame someone else. It's perfectly conceivable that the log swept into the Slot
after he scouted and before I put on; but regardless, I should have walked the run myself, because I wouldn't have to guess if the guy actually walked to the edge of the rapid and looked into the landing, or whether he just took a look from far upstream and missed the presence of the log.
TBoner- that river-wide log was in the busy water a few hundred yards above the entrance rapid to Dead Hiker. I snuck around it to the far left, but both Alex and Dawn boofed it after I stopped below to warn them. Looked to big too remove with anything but a chainsaw- lower water would make it easier to get around & higher water would leave the boof available. We'll have to get it out later this summer. And by the way, thanks for trucking upstream and letting us know about the pinned boat it Dead Hiker. How was your second run?
