Sometimes you gotta do a creek

to figure out that it really isn't worth it.
Well, worth doing once at least once.
check out the Trampas creek at:

Just read it Atom... Sounds like a good one for 'JUST ONCE!!!"

Just curious what you think about it at 150 as opposed to 60?

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body. But rather...To skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming... WOW !!!! What a ride!!!!!!"

no eddys

It would be cleaner, but the few eddy factor would be heads up, there was some stuff you definately would not want to go into at any flow. 3 people max would help also. Lots of wood. If it ever gets that high, I'll try it again, just to see. It definately made a good adventure day.

It may not have been out at the time you ran this, but have you checked out google earth for logistical concerns on access? The Embudo, Pueblo, Santa Cruz, and Taos boxes look awesome when you tilt it a little. Brazos box is lower resolution. This is a great tool for planning first descents. What was the gradient? Are you gonna have any footage in your New Mexico vid and when is that coming out? Congrats on the first d!

a small forgotten town
(which will remain unnamed) with alot of dogs and some wacked people
still stuck in the 60's.
LOL, I remember looking at the topos for the trampas and seeing this little WAY outa the way town and wondered what kind of people lived there. Now I know... Now I wonder how much water they divert from the creek for their "crops". I also love the name, Rio de los Trampas, or River of the Traps. Way too cool.

not on the vid

It won't be on the NM vid. Mostly cause it hardly ever runs and The people in the valley would flip out if tons of people started dropping in. (which would never happen cause of flows).
But I will plobably post a quicktime of it in the future.
The NM video will be on sale end of October, Creeks on it will be the
Embudo, Brazos, Upper Box, Guadalupe, Red River, Pueblo & Santa Cruz.
About an Hour and 20 min of footage. Will post when it's available. Not sure on the Trampas average Gradient, no flat stuff though.
adios, atom...
