Some good readins

If you haven't seen Kirk Eddlemon's blog you should (before you open this make sure you got some time on your hands)

The Next Big Idea

He just came out west for a visit to Northern CO and WY and has a couple of great stories from the trip including their trip down the Clarks Fork Box and a little exploration we did going higher up in the NF Little Wind drainage. Great writing and fun insights into a paddlers mind.

Speaking of paddling insights, I recently read Doug Ammons new book whitewater philosophy. I forced me parents to read the "why I kayak" intro because it captured so well that fleeting, nearly unexplainable and indescribable feeling we get from our sport and translated into something I thought they could understand. As you get deeper into the book a central theme develops around trying to get us, as paddlers, to think a little bit deeper about our connection to the river and what are paddling experiences mean. Interesting stuff and a pretty fast read. Recommended. You can get it direct from him here for $16 cheap Order for USA

Nice! Kirk's blog is a great read, with great pics. I enjoy the tale of the quest for the next adventure. Its a story that never gets old.

I'll second Ammon's book whitewater philosophy. Good writing, interesting topics, and it makes you think. Ammon's writing made me re-consider some mental aspects of paddling that have shifted the way I think about things. Worthwhile read.
