So when is Black Canyon gonna get flowing?

We are heading out mid-August and we were hoping for flows over 1000. Any predictions or links to sites with more info/contact info?

i wouldn't count on it being that high around then but you never know. the gunnison basin snowpack was well below average this year and the reservoir levels are pretty low. i've heard rumbling that the flows aren't expected to increase above current levels at all this season.

maybe captain black aka. milo can weigh in though.

our snowpack was pretty low, but reservoir levels arent too bad. theyve nearly topped off blue mesa, morrow pt is usually kept full, and crystal theyve been trying to retain as much water as possible.

theres been lots of rain in the area and if it keeps up they might bump it up another coupla hundred cfs but the big problem is the gunny canal (m wave) which is stealing the big flows from the black and the gunny gorge. they havent said anything about late season flows, but again, you never know with the rain.

Dan Crabtree from the Bureau of Reclamation is one of the guys to talk to. I got flow info from him last year. It still might be a bit early to make the call for mid august. Do a search on the BOR on the internet and find some numbers and start calling till you reach Dan. I don't have the number anymore.
