Slalom gates on Boulder Creek?

Anyone know who has been maintaining these?

They need to be maintained or removed.

I've traded emails with someone at the city about this.

Some of them look solid, but other look like they could end up in the creek soon.

The one that was right below spin cycle has ben removed.

ummm weird, I didn't know they still had gates up there. Anyway, all gates should be removable

And the Lord said, let there be whitewater. So on Friday, the 13th day of the month....

I've been wondering the same thing for several years. They are full of fishing line and crap. Basically an eyesore... unless someone actually wants to use them again, they should be removed.

The gates are long gone, torn off by weather or tubers. The support cables are still mostly there. One was tangled in the creek recently. The rest are still there, strung from the highway guard rail across to the trees on the south bank.

They were put up >10 years ago for a slalom racing series. It was pretty fun when there was enough runoff to actually hold a race.

Nate Lord organized a kayak/canoe team from Dawson School that participated. I've emailed him to ask for advice on who "owns" them and if anyone is interested in maintaining them.
