With the two large dust storms in the last few days, I wonder what impact that will have on timing of the snowmelt, especially if we get in a warming trend.

Thank you for all the info on the flow. Any favorite camps and hikes on the upper section ? We are going to take the kids to check out the river house but don't have any other plans. Thanks

I like Lower Chinle on the Navajo side. You'll need a permit for that. Easy access to Chinle Wash, which has cool ruins and Baseball Man pictograph. There's also a heron rookery nearby, so you'll certainly see a few of 'em flying by. Mule Ear is a really cool high point above the camp, but probably too steep a climb for kids. Nice to look at as the sun goes down, however.
