Did it in 2 and a half hours once, way back when, in a raft...
40,000 cfs.

At 18,000 pick a full moon

I bet you could do it in 5-6 hrs if you stayed in the current.

Isn't is only 26 miles or so? That is an easy day at 18,000. (and it will be higher than 18,000 in a week.

I'd still get an early start to avoid afternoon winds (or bring a sea anchor).

Why? Its a booze cruise/hiking trip. Faster water means more hiking and booze.

We flew through 2 weeks ago at 10,000 with wind. We stopped and camped at black rocks for fun and sun and then we were out in 3 hours with HIGH wind. Now the water is double. Watch the swirls and eddy lines in the black rocks! Fun!

We did it last Sunday at 20,000 in 5 hours of floating (hardly rowing)time. Nice relaxing float cause the current really moves at this flow. You can easily plan on a couple hour hike or lunch stop and do it in a day.

I have a small 12 ft boat, a shredder. Personally, the swirlies make me nervous because they suck my boat down. I am not sure what will happen when it gets higher. I hope someone who knows more will post. Maybe they do not even affect a bigger raft. It is only in the Black Rocks part that I have experienced it.
