Hi you two, sorry to not get back to either of you sooner. rhm, I appologize if this is confusing, it is not intentional, but IS confusing. You haven't gone in the last 5 years? Yes, you will get 5 points, unless you identify an Alternate Trip leader who has gone down the river more recently then 5 years. If you do that, you will get less than 5 points. You don't want to go in the Summer? No problem, but the majority or non-commercial river runners do. Sounds like we agreed about the motorization of a world class wilderness.
Poudreraft, according to the NPS, you will immediatly be charged $400 if you win. Yes, trip length varies by time of year, and by type of watercraft, from 12 days in the summer with a motor-rig to 25 in the dead of winter, oar only. Here's a breakdown:
May-Aug non-commercial motor 12 days, non-commercial oar 16 days
March-April non-commercial motor 12 days, non-commercial oar 18 days
Sept 1-Sept 15 non-commercial motor 12 days, non-commercial oar 18 days
Sept 16-Oct non-commercial oar 21
Nov-Feb non-commercial oar 25
Hope this helps, yours, Tom
