Hi you two, sorry to not get back to either of you sooner. rhm, I appologize if this is confusing, it is not intentional, but IS confusing. You haven't gone in the last 5 years? Yes, you will get 5 points, unless you identify an Alternate Trip leader who has gone down the river more recently then 5 years. If you do that, you will get less than 5 points. You don't want to go in the Summer? No problem, but the majority or non-commercial river runners do. Sounds like we agreed about the motorization of a world class wilderness.

Poudreraft, according to the NPS, you will immediatly be charged $400 if you win. Yes, trip length varies by time of year, and by type of watercraft, from 12 days in the summer with a motor-rig to 25 in the dead of winter, oar only. Here's a breakdown:

May-Aug non-commercial motor 12 days, non-commercial oar 16 days
March-April non-commercial motor 12 days, non-commercial oar 18 days
Sept 1-Sept 15 non-commercial motor 12 days, non-commercial oar 18 days
Sept 16-Oct non-commercial oar 21
Nov-Feb non-commercial oar 25

Hope this helps, yours, Tom

Grand Canyon Lottery Points and Trip Dates

If I select 5 different dates, will my 5 lottery points be distributed amongst each date, i.e. one chance per date? Or would it be 5 chances for each date?

What about 5 points across 2 dates? Thanks for any info!

When I applied, it wouldn't let me apply multiple points to a single date. I had to select five different dates.

you get 5 points, they are not a "per date" thing. It's like getting 5 lottery tickets. There's no putting your points towards a certain date.

At least that is my understanding.

That's correct. If you were assigned 5 points because you had not been down the river in the last 5 years, You get 5 points for each date you pick. If You just pick one date, you still only have 5 points. Good luck on getting hit by lightning, yours, Tom
