Royal Gorge Post Fire?

Any new debris or crap in the river after the Royal Gorge fire? Same as it ever was?

I cannot speak to whether it's the same as it ever was. But I ran it last weekend for the first time and there was nothing unexpected of concern. Certainly some places where bouncing off shore would not be good but that metal looked to have been there awhile.

The old wood water pipe burned in many places and the metal rings that used to hold it in place have slowly been making their way into the water via small rock slides during this rainy period. The AHRA rangers have been very proactive about moving them away from the water asap.

GARNA’s mission is to foster stewardship of the resources of the greater Arkansas River region through education, volunteerism and experiences.

Same as it ever was. Logan is right about the rings. You can see the tram cables on river right below wallslammer, well out of the water. You can also see where the cables that fell collapsed the pipeline in two spots, interesting. The small burn area we can see from the river already has some green growing from the rain! You can drive almost to the bridge on the north rim, sobering, as you drive through burn area and get an overview of it all.

Thanks for the info folks. That's about what I was expecting.

David - We're going Sat. Probably leave town about 8:30. I think we'll have two of the tandem IK rigs that I told you about - the Superducks. Right now we're full but we'd love to have you join us if you want to kayak or bring your boat. Just PM me if so.
