Royal Gorge in an oar rig?

How will the Royal Gorge be in a 14' oar rig at 1000 cfs or less? Anything to really watch out for?

I've rafted/rowed the Numbers (paddle raft), Fractions, Browns, Westwater, the Upper Blue, the Upper Eagle, Lodore, the Poudre, Pumphouse, Shoshone, South Canyon, Green Mtn. Canyon, etc. but never the Gorge.

Any info would be a big help.

Definitely doable. The entrance to Sunshine would be sticky below 1000. Wallslammer and raftripper (I think those are the names) will require the proper ferry angle (3-quartering upstream away from the walls and the rebar wall) in advance, and you will probably have to ship one or both oars a time or two, but nothing you won't do intuitively given some degree of competence. A lighter boat is better. Don't go much below 600 cfs. Give sunshine a look before-hand for the entrance move.
Take it easy,
Perry

Thanks for the info. So other than Sunshine, it sounds like it's read/run. Yeah?

yeah it's a read/run Sunshine will most likely be a tight "S" move for you....but you can scout it. I agree with it being touchy below 600 but with all the rain we had it should be ok for now...enjoy i ran it yesterday

row that shit hard, we ran it with 2 kayaks an an oar rig @ 450 cfs earlier this year and though bony it was good to go, my buddy on the oars has some good skills but he styled it, around 1000 is certainly good to go, have fun and make sure to take a spare!
