Royal Gorge Festival

If you're looking for a good time this weekend come and check out the Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival this friday and saturday (25th & 26th)

The festivities kick off on Friday with kayak and raft races through the Royal Gorge starting at 5:00 pm and a freestyle and SUP demo in the brand new Caņon City Whitewater park (which is a sweet hole at this level), starting at 4:00pm.

On Saturday there will be freestyle kayak and raft rodeos starting at 3 and 6 respectively, with plenty of other events going on throughout the day. There'll also be live music plus Coors and New Belguim prodcuts being served up in the park each night.

Cash Prizes!!! will be awarded for each of the race and freestyle events.

Don't miss what's guarenteed to be an awesome weekend on the Royal Gorge. To find out more about the weekend's events and getting registered visit or contact the Caņon City Recreation District at (719) 275-1578.

I"ll try to post a video of the new hole here soon for any interested freestyle boaters.

Let me know if you've got any questions

Do you know if there is a shuttle for the down river kayak race or are you on your own to get to Parkdale? I did check both the race website & Rec Dist website, but didn't find the answer.

Anyone interesting in racing this:

I called and you are on your own for shuttle. At this point it doesn't appear the fire will be a problem for the race, so get out there!

There's also going to be a throw down / jam session between 3 and 5:30 Friday afternoon at the Whitewater Park. You'll have to register but there'll be no entrance fee required. They'll have a DJ and the event will follow a similar format as the one at FIBARK.
