roll sessions?

this is random, but anyone have any good arguments to convince a few very cranky aquatics directors that kayaks in a pool won't actually hurt anything? I'm trying to convice the director to hold a roll session, and she doesn't know the first thing about it so she automatically says no. The pool is same set-up as Western, (waterlevel gutters, metal deck edging a foot higher, diving boards, the usual....) chlorine pool, plenty of hoses for washing off dirty boats... Her biggest fears are that boats will run into the walls and break the tiles, or break the plastic edge on the gutter, also that they will somehow contaminate the pool. The other director's concerns are that lifeguards can't save anyone if they get stuck upside down, so they will drown in a boat and the pool will be liable... Does anyone have to sign waivers to avoid this? (I know you don't at WSC....) Other than just telling her that they won't, and no one will be breaking the pool, anyone have any brilliant ideas? thanks!

Show them it is a real sport with a great precedent

for roll practice in the pool. The Spelius videos were all shot
in a pool and in a Hot Spring for that matter - where tiles are
an even bigger deal. Spelius was also a nationally recognized
swimmer as well as Olympic Kayaker...

The Hot Springs Video is on this page:

Tell her to give Boulder Parks and Rec a call we do it and it does'nt hurt a thing. We do ask people to wash boats off and out.

By the way we have roll sessions/open kayaking every Sunday at the East Boulder Rec center from 5:30-7:30pm.
