The reason the flows will drop is that unless we get a bunch more snow they (the AHRA not the municipalities) will turn off the current releases and drop to native flow or below.
Releasing water in this manner is done at the request of your AHRA due to the fry emergence. The municipalities could care less when the water is moved and AHRA with little to no input from private boaters has changed the way they did things for 20+ years. Or recently the AHRA made a big change with far reaching impacts and choose to release all the water they can in March/April then keep the river below natural flow in April and May until natural run off. You starting to feel like you are getting screwed for your $3 -$5 fee yet??
So to put my money where my mouth is and it is to be noted that there are still folks out there who owe me beer from bets over water flows on the Ark
Anyway I will bet you a 30 rack of pbr (I believe they still sell pbr at the JUG so it will not be hard to get) that in then next month the river will drop significantly from the levels it is at right now.
How do I know this? Well history for one as it is the #1 priority for the any water released by your AHRA is completed so early that they dont know how much is in storage. It is a fact these release can move all of the summer VFP water as to force flows to below current levels in July and August - as shown in 2012. I also believe this because your AHRA has stated this is their explicit goal and I believe them. Your AHRA is who has requested the releases that is the reason for the high water now and your AHRA will be the reason for the low water that is coming in April / May.
Yesterday when I looked the granite gauge was 375 and my bet is that we will see 230 or maybe significantly lower again for a long time in April and May and up to natural run off.
Just my opinion but I am willing to put a 30 rack on it.
