An Army Surplus store, plenty of Polypro usually in them that are either brand new never worn, or near new. OR, if you know somebody that is either still IN the army, or was, ask them if you could get their ploypro gear off of them...I know that when I got out of the Army, I had practically a full duffle bag full of polypro gear of various thickness/thin-ness.
Very comfortable and WARM. Worn mine through all kinds of cold weather (Snow, sleet, drenched in rain, just plain out cold and windy, etc) and shit in Afshitystan and Iraq. I usually wear a polyester/silk base layer below them on those frigid frigid days. BOATING:
I only wear the polypro tops, over a think polyester base layer, and with a drytop over it. Keeps me dry and warm, and it's not too bulky, and it does not restrict range of motion.
Worn these quite a bit in the army too, with the same layering system, base layer, then polypro. Great for use/application for the mission in the army. BOATING
: Wore just the polypro bottoms under a pair of IR paddling shorts while kayaking a couple of time at the beginning of the season already on parkdale at low flows just to experiement and find out how practical they are for boating....: They are warm, and stay fairly dry, and they stayed warm even when a little wet. ****
The only safety issue that I could see would be in the event of a swim. The ones that i have (Not sure if they are made any differently) don't have any way to tighten it around your waist, so, Im thinking that in the event of a swim, they would be easily filled, soaked, heavy, and end up comming down and being wrapped around your feet/legs....becomming more of a safety hazard to you. ****
As far as wearing them with a wetsuit, I can't offer any help there,
I havent tried it.
Hope this helps a little!
