Rio Baker and Canal Baker

Has anyone tried to paddle down the lower (easy) part of Rio Baker to continue on Canal Baker and Canal Messier up to Puerto Eden or possibly further South? I wonder what permits, paper, officially recommended saftety equipment etc. are necessary, who has to be contacted before, and if it is possible to loan good sea kayaks in Caihaique.
