Reminder -- report to SAR folks if you leave a boat.
Included in the report concerning the drowing of a tuber in Boulder Creek, was a report that there was a stuck kayak without a kayaker and that there was a search for said kayaker.
As a reminder, if you do lose a boat or have a boat stuck in the river please contact the agencies that handle search and rescue for the area (I would probably avoid calling 911, but often times there are non-emergency numbers for the fire or police department).
A simple call might save a lot of time that these folks spend searching for someone that is not there. When you call, remember to describe the location, the color of the boat, and ensure them that the person who was in the boat is safely out of the situation. It might also be helpful to describe if there is a possibility that the boat may float free.
Also it is probably helpful if you have at least your phone number somehow "attached" to your boat.
