Remembering Adam

Adam was a close friend of mine for ten years since our mountain biking Freshman orientation trip at Middlebury College. We spent many fun days teleskiing, biking, skate skiing, and watching the “Desperate Housewives” on Sunday nights (yes, he was a fan and even hosted some gatherings for the show!). I loved his enthusiasm for life. He was always “fired up” for a new adventure and loved recounting his previous ones in funny voices with lots of hand motions and animation.

Even though he did so many different things, Adam excelled at just about everything he tried. From academics to his job to his athletic endeavors, Adam was successful in all of his pursuits. Despite his successes, Adam was one of the most humble and selfless people I know. He spent an entire day teaching me how to skate ski. Last summer, he picked out paint for my kitchen with me and painted it with me. He would take time to kayak Boulder Creek with me and prep me for all of the upcoming rapids. When we skied out-of-bounds together, he would wait for me and always make sure I felt comfortable with the pitch. When he had friends over for dinner, he cooked amazing meals of lightly seared tuna and grilled veggies. When I was worried about a friend in Boulder two weeks ago, he offered to drive up from Denver in the middle of the day to go over to her house with me.

It was also obvious that family meant the world to Adam. Whenever we were talking about something fun coming up, he would say “Becca would love to do that.” Or, if we were out having a good time, he would call Becca to invite her over. He would often take time out from his sports to hang out with his family at their cabin in Silverthorne.

Adam, thank you for everything you’ve given us. You will be remembered by me on those days of blissful powder turns, roaring spring run-off, and sweet singletrack.
