Hiya Bart,

There are two yahoo groups sort of associated with Colorado Springs that I know of. Pikes Peak Whitewater Club, and Colorado Kayakers were both recommended to me (I'm a new boater).

I've heard that the Arkansas is flowing somewhat strong (so it's not a good place for me at my level), and I'm also told by experienced kayakers that the 7th drop is running very fast and is dangerous (to what level of kayaker, I'm not sure, but the guys who said it were experienced). There was a near drowning of some foolish rafters (with small children, poor raft, and no PFDs) about 6 weeks ago.

Yes number 7 is sticky and yes number 6 is the best play for my skill level at this point. Several of the eddy's are washed out above 1k so its up to you whether you are comfy there. I wouldnt want to miss a roll and end up in #7. I have seen several incidents there and I dont plan on going in there if I can avoid it. There will probably be a group of us go down on Wed aft if you are interested.
