pueblo fest?

Hey, nice poster, are you getting a special release in order to put this thing on or will it be a low flow ordeal?

The board of waterworks has promised 600-700cfs for the weekend of the Chile & Frijole Festival. It is the biggest event of the year for Pueblo other than the state fair and this year we are getting invovled by having events in the Whitewater park. So while it won't be huge water, it should be enough to get one more weekend of paddling in. If you come bring your appetite, smile, and your boat all of them will get a lot of use!

(...and bring your wallet, you will want some of those roasted chile peppers!)

So, how are the holes at 600-700. Sticky? Shallow? Deep? Can you cartwheel? Loop? Lets hear a little descriptive beta from the locals.

Hey guys,

At 600-700 you won't scrape your knuckles or elbows should you windowshade. I haven't seen a loop at that level yet, doesn't mean that there isn't someone who can do it though. I would say there would be decent water for cartwheels etc... At the end of September there isn't much water in any of the playparks. We will have a great time with whatever flows we get. If you need big water then I'd say it isn't the place for you. But if you show up there is a really good chance that you may have a great time.

-Bryan

PS-If you need more info you can ask someone like Leif Anderson (who came to our Ice Breaker in April) how the water was and if it was worth the trip. I think it may be a bit warmer this time.

700 is about minimum flow for loops. Number 4 & 7 will be the deepest and will be your best bet. Cartwheels in 6 are do-able (river-left side of feature). 1 is a fast surf and precise blunts can be accomplished.

If you're going to be in town and have an hour to burn.....I'd say it's worth it. There's a little bit of surf but you probably won't be able to do much else in the features. Decent eddy lines.....

At the very least, it's a pretty cool setting with the huge mural/graffitti levee. Some kick ass paintings, some pretty goofy. Fun nonetheless.
