product reviews

when is the last time you read one of these reviews that wasn't glowing in all aspects? Is everything that is now produced really that good, or are all of these mini advertisments by shops. I would be more prone to trust the guy who said something like "just stick with lasts years, not much change", or even "this was a swing and a miss" once in a while.

Don't know where this flame came from?

Bic brand lighters are the best, they usually work all the way to the end.

I bought a pair of Cherry Bomb Teva shoes and took them creeking in Cali. They fell apart on their second run, right about at the Cherry Bomb gorge! Worst piece of gear ever. As someone who writes for the CKS gear blog, I think the reviews are reasonable. Since we choose what we want to write about, any gear that makes it up onto the blog is liked by a great paddler who is beating the hell out of it. If you haven't seen it, check out | Colorado Kayak Supply Blog

I guess when you read reviews from a retail company you have to expect that they will tend to only publish good reviews, else they lose suppliers etc. Not saying the reviews are phony, but that it makes sense to publish positive reviews on a retail site. Negative reviews would only hurt your company: "oh hey, don't come by this stuff from us, it will surely break"

I still think when you are looking for reviews on a specific piece of equipment you can find a good variety of opinions on the buzz. It's a pretty comprehensive forum for that.

I have been happy with the CKS reviews but before I purchase any big item i definitely search the buzz archives for opinions. We all know there are enough of those here....

That being said, I have to say the most recent review of the Molan wasn't exactly from a paddler who "beat the hell out of it" but rather someone who rented it for a half day in the play park...
