Price River Info?

Has anybody done the 24 mile stretch of Price River Canyon from Woodside to the Green River daily takeout? The American Whitewater website says class III-V but other guild books indicate relatively straightforward class III. Running at about 900 cfs. right now and I guess it doesn't run very often. Would like to give it a try in a ducky if truly class III only. Thanks in advance for any info. you can provide.

I paddled it about 15 years ago. While driving on a multi state kayak road trip we were driving the canyon and saw the river below, so paddled it.

I remembered it as about a creek-like III with an occasional IV drop. I would expect some strainers as it does not get paddled often, so scout carefully.

I haven't run it, but last time I drove by it (2 weeks ago), it looked like more excitement than I'd want for an IK... but that's just me, and just based on what it looked like from the road @ high water

You are talking about the woodside to green run, not price canyon correct?

If so, you should be fine. It is moving fast though. It was above its banks as of Monday. It is mostly class II with some III for most of the run. There is one class IV drop that has a lead in pool near the end. Very obvious and an optional easy 100 foot portage. I ran it at comparable/slightly lower flows seven years ago. Also, you should consider putting in at the mouth of the canyon instead of at the highway. Otherwise you are running 8 miles of switchbacks through the middle of a very boring and redundant field. I don't remember being able to scout it, with the biggest issue being over grown tamarisk which I suspect are now dead.
Regarding Price canyon(roadside run on 6 west of helper). It is the biggest I have ever seen it. Mostly IV with some V. Looked clear Monday and was clear when my buddys ran it Friday.

Good luck and have fun.

A group of a dozen of us did it in duckies a couple years ago. Agree w/ C-dub, put in at mouth of canyon. There's some parking area and vault toilets on the left of the road. The put in was dragging yor IKA thru the weeds to the river. The water level was much lower when we did it. You could nap the whole way and just bounce off the banks. 8-12 ft wide. There was one spot though, half way down... a boulder field. Half the group flipped. The line was R to L after squeezing around a large shed size boulder on the right. Prob all under water at current flows.
