what's the big deal?

does the flow value really make two shits difference? below the rock, there is one major USBR diversion and one major diversion for the city of greeley's water treatment plant, plus the north fork of the poudre dumping in from seamen res, so there are three big variables that could greatly influence the reading coming out of the canyon and into town compared to what you actually boat in the canyon. could be wrong on this one, but i believe the city of fort collins and soldier canyon water plants take out water before the gauge as well, so there are two more major diversions before the graph.

so what's all the fuss about what the graph says? it doesn't really matter. the rock was at 2' yesterday afternoon, so there's enough water to boat any section of the river now, so get up there and boat it and quit worrying about the graphs.

By the waterside I will lay my head.
Listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul.

So I agree with the dude, just go boat, but it is nice to know the flow so you know which boat to take. I was about to do the usual playboat narlows run yesterday until I heard the flow and realized uppers is a creekboat run now. Either way, it was at 1.9 yesterday, so it should hover around there today as well, and hopefully with this cold weather it will stay or come down a bit by the weekend. Who knows though, its been on the rise so fast this week, it could just keep going up. Either way, just drive up there and boat I guess, you can never really tell what is happening on the river by reading the flows at the mouth with all the diversions. Anyone with a vis should post if you can, thanks.

The graphs don't matter to you because you live in the Fort. But I have a 50 minute drive to get to the canyon mouth. So I can't just head up the canyon and hope for the best.

agreed. the flow at the mouth and graph don't mean squat. i can guarantee the river flowing so stop your fussing. from the rock report last night its at least above 1.5ft and probably closer to 2ft.
