Hey everyone, I'm heading out to DC/Arlington during the first week of April. (3rd -7th) I'm flying into Ronald Reagan with a few friends, but none of them paddle! I'm There to pay my respects to a good friend of mine in Arlington that I served with, and just enjoy the yuppie-ness that of which is DC from what I'm hearing.
I will not have a car out there, so transportation might be a bit difficult
OKAY, to the real point of this thread:
We're practically goin to be staying right on the Potomac River or very close to it, (The State Plaza Hotel) and I would like to paddle a section of it while I am out there. I would like to do the Great Falls, but I don't think I'm quite there yet, so I'd like to hit some Class III-IV section.
I'll probably be able to bring my own gear,; minus my boat, and maybe my paddle. SO, here's my questions for you all:
- Does anyone have any connections out there that could let me borrow a boat; A Friend?? Or even an outfitter that I could rent one??
- Do you know of anyone (Friend, Guide) that could show me down the river, and is possibly in that area that I could link up with? (I won't have a car)
- What section of river should I look at?
- Is there a question or thought that I missed?
-** Is there a BAR that you could recommend that's fairly low key, and might have some of the DC boating community there too??** I've been told to check out the Brickseller. Also been told that MANY BARS there are strict on a lame DRESS CODE...i.e. Collard Shirt, Slacks, Tie, Suit, ..all that up tight crap.
Thanks for any advice and connections that you may have!
