Hey ,you gotta do your back yard bs when it's running
. I try to do Cherry at least once a year and at flood stage,actually a handful of fun drops if you are willing to put up with very flat water in between.I found another man altered irrigation ditch /creek with a long constricted straightaway with good gradient in Aurora the other day, looks like you would really haul ass through there at flood and probably have a huge wave where it hits flatter gradient, then you have to figure out an escape before it goes off a 15 ft.ish drop with concrete teeth at it's base.There are several big drops with teeth on this creeK.Then there is Sand Creek,gnarly water quality has drops of varying difficulty up to man made NR,scenery includes the city jail and a truck stop.Look for the thread/vid 'Kayak Saudi Aurora' coming soon and dedicated to White Chocolate and Caspermike.
I actually did find a doable class V Front Range park and huck not too far off the beaten path,it may have been done.Here are your clues;
1]another part of this creek has been done,by Gary E. and a few others.not highly regarded.
2]Lagoonia once pointed out this drop on this forum.
3] Yeti posted about another short section of this creek that has a rapid or two.
This area is getting massive snow this winter too!
There is another way off the beaten path southern Front Range river that has seen at least one descent by a Buzzard.I don't know what part they[ Tim] did but one access I found had a woodless steep manky 15/20 ftr.right out of the gate.I scouted a little ways down II-III with some wood ,but topos show it getting real steep not far downstream .Sean Lee type run?The first d was probably below here.See if you can guess it.Hint;Castle up the road.
We found a good drop on James Creek 4+? with fast 3 down to Lefthand but there are low bridges.Eric Bader probably ran it 20 years ago.
