Please Help the Big Sandy, WV

Vote for Big Sandy today!

Great Outdoors - Vote

Vote Early and Often to Win Big $$'s for Big Sandy River and Trail Access

Friends of the Cheat is attempting to facilitate the purchase of an outstanding piece of land along West Virginia's Big Sandy Creek. We can't give you too many details, as the purchase is still in negotiation, but it will protect 2.2 miles of shoreline and trails along the lower section, one of the West Virginia's most beautiful rivers for paddlers, hikers, and fishermen.

The Redwood Creek Wines "Greater Outdoors Project" is offering a $50,000 competitive grant. Friends of Cheat applied for this grant to support our efforts. A panel of judges reviewed over 100 applications from trail clubs and conservation groups. We finished in the top five.

Now we really need your help in the next phase, and it won't cost you a penny.

On June 16th a short 150 word bio and photo on each finalist project will be posted on the RedwoodCreek.com website. The public is invited to vote for the project of their choice. Please go there and cast your vote for the Big Sandy Project. You can vote every day, once per computer. The voting lasts through July 31st and the project getting the most votes is the winner.

Please bookmark this site and go there every day when you check the weather, news, or river levels. Every voter is allowed one vote per day. Vote early and often for the Big Sandy Project. This grant could make or break our effort to protect this land!

Thanks,

Big Sandy

The Big Sandy is truly special. It was the second river in WV that I ever paddled, the first being the Cranberry. I will help support this initiative.

Cheers,

Mark

Support Friends of Cheat

Hi All,

With regard to the recent posting about Friends of Cheat, a finalist in the running to win the $50,000 Redwood Creek Wines Greater Outdoors Project grant, we re-launched the online voting on Thursday, July 17th. The deadline to vote is still Thursday, July 31st. In order to ensure the complete fairness and integrity of the vote process, online votes cast prior to July 17th will no longer be valid.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, however maintaining the fairness of the vote is just as important to us as each organization’s hard work and commitment to the great outdoors. Your vote matters now more than ever, so please visit RedwoodCreek.com and recast your vote to help Friends of Cheat receive the financial support it deserves!

Thank you,
Your Friends at Redwood Creek Wines
