Yeah, after running everything below Rig to the dam clean, we couldn't pass up the dam. I'm sure it would have gone clean too if we hadn't flipped getting out of the eddy (dooh!). It gets a little fuzzy here. but I think Dan and I hit our second roll and then dropped the dam with about a 10 o'clock angle left of river center. A couple of whirlydoos and a roll in the hole and we came out upright but quickly flipped again as we landed. We were fully aware of the pin potential on all the guard rocks below, so we were out quick.
It took about an hour with 8 guys (thanks for stopping and lending a hand Adam) pullin on ropes to finally get her out. Most of us were in playboats so no one had their pin kit.
Dan lost his paddle in the mess, so it would be appreciated if everyone kept an eye out for it. Black shaft, white bladded Werner with his name and contact info (Dan Livingston, 970-214-1336).
Despite the outcome, holy crap, that was about the funnest day I've ever had on a river. That boat is a f'in blast, Dan and I were laughing out loud with tears in our eyes. Dan was in front and getting a working, getting fully submerged through holes and in orbit through the wavetrains, while I was dry in the backseat.
As far as the boat goes, it's salvagable, but with the weak spot from the fold she isn't safe for anything but wide open rivers. Anyone got a fresh Topo Duo for sale?
