Hell yeah!! That place was turning into a clusterfuck of a dumpster anyways. Maybe it'll keep away all the losers who chose to treat it like their own personal garbage bag.

Edit: Wait, now all the tubers are gonna be putting in on all the good sections that are free....thus killing themselves

What about other donors?

No mention of in the article about donors? Aren't there a handful of local groups and businesses that donate funds to help maintain the area?

Who owns the closed picnic area upriver from Picnic rock?

Charging a fee won't change the crazy parking along the road - it will only encourage more and the roadside parking further upriver by the crazy tubers.

I have no problem paying a fee for Gateway but it's much more than a parking lot. Picnic rock is not much more than a parking lot/take out spot.

If they start charging, are they going to limit the number of vehicles entering? What happens if I run shuttle and come back only to find the spot I paid for is now taken and the lot is full (ie closed).

Then again, by the time the parking gets bad there it's mid summer and Filter is all but too low to kayak or raft w/ the kids.

I'm not sure what to think. I don't use Filter Plant as much as I use to these days, but if I were a beginner I'd be a little disappointed. There are certainly other takeout options above Filter Plant, but that's just going to destroy other areas.

According to the article, nothing is set in stone yet.
