That brings back great memories of spring and fear in my heart. The Lochsa at high water puts the hair on my back up, and makes me feel alive. A few days ago, I was driving through Kooskia on my way back to Helena at about midnight. I pulled over to the side of the river to look at Lochsa Falls. Even at low water with a flashlight... my stomach turned with a little fear and excitement. If you didn't know, there's a big living room sized boulder at the bottom of the drop. However, it's still very runable at about 500 cfs. The rest of the river isn't though. Good times... even though it's usually about 45 degrees F when it's runnable. It's my favorite river in the whole world.

No.. but it's getting up there. The Lochsa peaked at 21k this year, but trust me, you can get worked in a few holes if you're not on your game.
