I understand the technicality for determining if he swam or not but to me I really don't see the practical importance. To me what he did took huge balls but little else. He paddled off a ginormormous waterfall and survived. End of story. He said he had a specially designed helmet and PFD to protect him, what fracking difference does it make if he was sitting in a piece of plastic we happen to call a kayak? It still isn't really kayaking.
As has been stated in other posts, I really don't see THAT much skill involved. He took the deep breath and braced himself for impact. The fact that this is evidence to him that bigger falls should be attempted displays this for me.
kudos for having bolas gigantes and even better luck but for my money, the guy on Cherry Creek that broke his paddle on cherry bomb and continued to boof 4 more falls and hand roll out of each is a much more skilled boater.
just my 2 cents cuz I don't want him encouraging yourrealdad....
