Pecos River Beta

Anybody have info on the Pecos river (Cowles to Pecos)? USGS shows it running pretty high right now.

Never talked to anyone who's done it. But there's a link on the section above Pecos at Pecos River, New Mexico and one on the section below Pecos at The second link says:There are no other stretches to paddle along Pecos River than the Pecos to Tecolotito stretch.
Good luck if you try the upper part. Might be strainer city.

Yep...sounds like it might be kinda strainy and possibly some river-wide barbed wire fences not far below Cowles (according to AW river info)...that was back in 2004, however. Sounds like they were having some pretty heated landowner issues at that time as well, though there are contrasting perspectives among paddlers. I'm going to try to head up there (I'm in Las Cruces) next weekend if its still running to check it out. Might be a hidden gem! I'll let the buzz know what I find. Until then, any info those of you might have is still welcome. 'Preciate it.
