No, not the always popular river beer of choice for many, but actual Professional Bull Riders.....in kayaks!!!
The P.B.R. world headquaters is located here in beautiful downtown Pueblo and they're hosting one of their larger bull riding events from May 13th-17th.
P.B.R. has asked many community non-profits to become involved and offer entertainment and events for their sponsored professional athletes while they're in town. The Pueblo Paddlers will proudly host a REAL rodeo for these cowboys!!! Should be entertaining to say the least....complete with "rodeo clowns".
Saturday, May 16th from 11am-2pm at the Pueblo Whitewater Park the riders will have the opportunity to get in a kayak and try to make it 8 seconds in one of the features. For all of you REAL rodeo participants (kayakers), there will be a beginner, intermediate, and advanced competition. $250 cash prize from The Edge for the winner in the advanced division.
Accomodations? Bob Walker at The Edge has graciously offered the space behind his shop (downtown, Union Ave., right next to the PBR building where all the good stuff is going down). Space is limited, but he's happy to host some boaters that might like to stay around, enjoy the concerts, and experience the festival (bring a paco).
