Paddling Seasons

Been thinking/talking with buddies about planning potential paddling trips that have been on the list. What do you guys know about when is the best time of year to go to the following places (or when is it doable):

When's the best time to hit BC?

When's the best time to get the most goods in Cali (not this year )?

Oregon?

Mexico: Just got back from an awesome Mexico trip and started thinking about how and when we can put together another trip. From what it sounds like, November is a great time, first half of December is good (that's when we were there), second half of December through January is low but doable. How is it in March? Over the Summer? Are there any notable differences in paddling season between the Valles and Veracruz areas?

Costa Rica: Thanksgiving? Christmas? Summer?

Ecuador?

Chile?

China? Probably looking at either Shanghai or Beijing areas. Is there paddling around there or do you have to head a long way from the cities and into the mountains to get anything?

Japan? Would probably be based just outside of Kyoto.

Obviously, I'm bored and daydreaming, but thanks anyways in advance.

Bumpity-Bump.

Nobody wants to help a snowed-in paddler plan his dreams (or dream of making plans)? I know some of you guys have info on at least some of these places.

Ok Went to Costa Rica in October of 85 it seemed like a good time to be there. Went to Chile in Jan of 92 seemed good if not a bit high waterish at the time. Bag all the first and second world shit and hit Africa. IMO Africa is the best place to spend the adventure dollar the locals and fauna add a certain edge you won't find in say Japan or BC. sj

Costa Rica is a Fall Runner... Things start going down in Jan from what I have heard... never been there myself though.

BC is a late summer runner. Most of the stuff starts up in June and Runs well into Summer. The one run that does peter out a little quick that you will want to check out is the Nahatlatch. It wraps up in July so June is best for that one. Other than that most everything is going on in July and Aug. up there.

WA and OR are similar ... Both have seasons all year but the prime is spring and summer. For washington state you should be looking at the last two weeks of May or the first few weeks of June. This will get you super high flows on the Wenatchee and Icicle. That is epic Play and Creekin, there are some big water runs too but at that time of year not many venture down.
Wenatchee Play, Tumwater, Icicle Creek IV+, Icicle Creek V+

I know this is lame and I get bashed all the time for saying this but Hood River is a spring feed drainage so I never make special trips for that area. It is a filler for when nothing else is running. Don't get me wrong, the runs there are epic and wonderful in many diverse aspects, but the simple fact is that it is usually always running so why miss out on the goods somewhere else. It will wait for you. But if it can't here are some details.
White Salmon Play, Green Truss
