Evan it sounds like you are homesick, besides do you even paddle any more or are you to busy artificially inseminating sturgeon eggs so we can all eat caviar ? If you come back to the Fort call me this time so we can paddle. Oh and whoever said Filter plant is over rated doesn't know whats up. When you have 12 eight year olds swimming at once and only one leash it becomes a colorado classic like that. Underrated

I think the Eagle is underrated. If the season were longer, it would be a destination river I would think, I always have fun on every section. Maybe I'm just easily amused and like the convienience.

Added: I should say high-water Eagle is underrated. I wonder if there is any way to get our water rights back!

Middle NSV (IV+ section)- people say its a good run to see if you are ready for Class V- yeah right. This thing is a manky piece of crap with one good rapid.

Golden playpark- lots of features that don't do anything. Even at peak its hard to find a hole deep enough to loop in.

Upper East- really straightforward, really short.

Gore and Bailey- seems like I've run them a thousand times and they are still fun.

Upper Eagle (below the Dowd Chute)- the book calls it III, but at high water most "Class III boaters" I know would swim, get the crap scared out of them, and lose all their gear within 200 yards of the put-in.

The Numbers- fun and creeky at low water, and one of the most enjoyable runs in CO at high water (>2000).

I do so still paddle Kevin!!! I go to NC every chance I get. Which, admittedly, isnt often. But I check the buzz every day so I still feel like I am a boater. I am jealous of you guys who stuck it out with the river rats and are still livin the sweet life. I'll be back the middle of this summer if all goes well with my thesis and research. Boating is on. we will have to test this list and see if people are right.

oh and I dont artificially inseminate. Catfish are external spawners. we have to kill the males for sperm though...

Over-rated = Golden and Confluence, not sure why anyone would even paddle here. Honestly if this was by back yard play run I would quit boating and start mall hopping. (303 is sooo sic yo!)

Under-rated = Clear Creek of the Ark. This section changes from a easily lapable (got in 6 laps after work) creek and fun run of V- to a mean son of a bitch of solid class V to V+ IMO above 600 cfs or so. Only 2-3 eddies on the entire run at this level.

I have seen a ton of very good boaters get the shit beat out of them when the water on Clear Creek, as it does every year, gets up into the willows.
