oregon coast kayaking?

Hey Ya'll I am taking a trip down the Oregon Coast from Seattle and ending up in Reno. Where are the good ocean waves along the way?

Florence will probably be worth a stop. It's a huge windsurfing mecca. The waves are really unpredictable, and look out for sneakers. If it's flat there, it's usually flat for a ways in each direction.

Happened to hit Indian Beach at Ecola Point last year while on the road ('bout 1.5 hrs out of Portland). The break was nice, 8-10 ft swells and easy access. Nice board surfers up there too. But that's about the extent of my experience

You might want to try the waves on the south side of Yaquina Head (north of Newport). I haven't tried that spot myself, but I've seen quite a few surfers and a handfull of paddlers riding waves out there. is offline   Reply With Quote
