Yeah, I spelled beetles wrong, I know.
Just an interesting topic. The article indicates that the difference was less than they thought, and yes it needs to be repeated. Obviously your biggest difference comes from annual snow fall variance...but seemingly small or benign things spread over large areas can effect runoff, eg dust layers in the snowpack.

If only we in the desert southwest had a "snow sublimation" issue to concern ourselves with. Perhaps the "tammy beatle" will solve our low flows...then again, most likely not. As for the pine beetle's work in those higher elevation snow-sheds, it seems to have increased runoff to some degree but not enough to mention.
