Yeah, CStork & Cheyenne. I didn't mean that the bag was carefully re-stuffed -- just that the rope was re-coiled & re-thrown. But, as Kyle noted, having to throw twice meant more laps for the swimmer, and that is all I was trying to address with the original post -- minimizing the causes of actually having to do that. I laughed at your "smoke a cigarette" comment!

Hartje, you're totally right about the DT hole. When I said "relatively safe", I was simply drawing a distinction between that rapid (which has a pool behind it) & any other rapid where you only get ONE shot to bag your buddy. I never meant to say that I take this hole "lightly". I think any paddler with a sense of self-preservation is gonna look at DT & take it seriously, so no disrespect to the rapid. You in the mood for a road trip?

These are great discussions to have on the Buzz, much better to learn on this forum than when you are out on the river and an emergency rears its ugly head. Keep up the great post...and thanks for saving me.
