Oh-Be-Joyful/Crested Butte Boaters

Hello All - I've been pulling wood out of the log pile below the Avalanche log pile these last few days (AW's website refers to the area as Pick Up Sticks). Today I had some help from Josh and Ben, and we were finally able to clear a channel on river left. Please check this channel before you run it as well as the section of river below the channel. The last few days logs have filled in on what I've removed. None have gone downstream...but it could easily happen.

For anyone looking for firewood, there's a large pile on the high, river-left bank above the log jam. It's dry and perfect for a fireplace or camp fire. Anyone who needs to replenish their supply for winter please go to this area and cut-to-your-hearts-content. I'm afraid that next year's snow may put these piles back into the river.

Happy Paddling - Drew

We also owe Drew a thanks from pulling the big logs out of the bottom slides at the beggining of last year ... with the help of a chainsaw ... in a snow storm. (The rumor was that they flushed out.)
