OBJ injuries

A friend of mine tore his achilles tendon and broke a bone in his foot a couple weeks ago. Then, today I see on facebook that someone was med-evac'd out of there this year with a back injury. Can anyone share details of the back injury? where, how? Any other injuries out there? Not sure I want to know, but would like to avoid similar mistakes/accidents in the future.

Ten years ago on 6/6/6 it was running high and I got pushed too far right on the big one and landed in the shallow area. It jacked my back pretty good and I can still feel it.

Even if you don't know Nate, please consider donating a couple bucks to help his recovery. A small contribution can go a long way. We all play this risky game, and sometimes tragedy strikes. Lets help create a safety net for one of our fellow brothers.

I remember Jono Stevens jacked his back on OBJ back before he went out to Santa Cruz and got into surf kayaking. This would've been back in the early oughts. Seems like there are lots of injuries there, hence the other name, "Oh be careful."

I know of several back in the late nineties early '00s:

piton right side on the big one, both ankles broken und jammed under the bulk head of a Perception Phat.

Very lucky to roll up and make the eddy.

Broken back from a different pales same drop.

Compressed disk at same drop due to monster boof to flat landing.

Also back injuries from flat landings at both the top drop and last drop.

John Solanik broke both ankles on the big one in '98 or '97, went too far right.
