Numbers TR 2/13/11
The Ark River valley saw 20 and 30+ below night time temps in the last week and yet somehow most of the ice was blown out of the Numbers by Sunday afternoon. With 325 cfs in there, I would call it low water and not ELFing.
Met up with 4! other Buzzards at CKS and headed up early afternoon to put in at #4 in 45ish temps. Road scouted for ice on the way up. Still some ice with the need to run a few different lines to take shelves and/or skirts out of play but amazingly open considering its mid February and we were at 8400'. Fairly windy but warm and, indicative of the quality of the day, at our backs most of the run.
Strong group with a nice tight dynamic considering we were almost all new to each other. Kept the group pretty tight out of respect for the level of exposure. Waited out a bunch of ice flowage above #6. Good quality run, under the divide, in the dead of winter.
