Not a Eagle county search$rescue customer

As I floated down the the last part of the recently destroyed s turns in Minturn.A person in jeans and a customer pfd waved a paddle at me,I responded with OK sign from my boat(he knew no safety commands).I told him a tree which had recently been pulled was gone.He directed me to the otherside of the river. You could get by the tree or get out there. An agro search and rescue person waved me over to chew me out.The tree was gone the ropes were gone and I could see I was'nt going to go into a strainer, get pinned or put myself in danger in the raging class 2 water.I mentioned I could see it was clear and the man in jeans waved me through. The upset search and rescue guy told me"we don't need more customers like me".I know I was alone and I'm fine with that..I'm not a customer on the river.I was totaly aware of my surroundings and was not putting myself or anyone else in danger.Upsetguy could have been friendly and he would get that back, but he had to think he had a badge or uniform that can tell me how to conduct myself on the river,NOT.Thanks for getting the tree out.It was for your customers who can't maintain themselves without supervision.not me and the other kayakers who scout, know thier surroudings and can deal with a problem if it comes up.Stay safe and hope to see more pros like you guys out there!

Was that a props for them getting a tree out of the river, or are you pissed that you got a little ass chewing. I think you came through about a minute after the tree and the ropes were cleared. I am sure they were just trying to be safe and have good upstream safety when there were ropes in the water. I know the most frustrating thing in a rescue is when people dont yield to the warnings about an operation downstream and drop right into the middle of a very avaiodable dangerous situation. Anyways, shout out the Vail Mountain Rescue Group for volunteering there time to get a tree out of the river!

I'm a little confused. It sounds to me like the aggro search and rescue guy didn't have anyone upstream... just some tourist in blue jeans waving people through.

If I'm blocking traffic for a rescue I'm far enough upstream to stop people in time, I have a whistle ready and I am ready to wave my arms and then make a big X with them, give the eddy out signal, whatever. I don't read anything like that happening from what I just read. I would have told the aggro guy to get the fuck out of my face.
